Okey Ahaiwe, the immediate former Chief of Staff to Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has been elected as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Abia State.
He had polled a total number of 469 votes to knock out his closest rivals, the deputy governor of the state, Ude Okochukwu, and Mr. Lucky Igbokwe who respectively scored 12 votes.
Other participants for the governorship candidate included the former chairman of the party, Senator Emma Nwaka, who garnered 0 votes (s), and a former House of Assembly member, Sampson Orji, who polled 11 votes.
516 votes had been cast in total during the special congress, out of which 12 votes had been declared invalid.
Meanwhile, Godwin Obaseki, the chairman of the Abia PDP primary and governor of Edo State, had assured the candidate that the party will completely support him to win the governorship election in the state.
