Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State extends his congratulations to Senator Godswill Akpabio on his successful election as the President of the Senate. Senator Akpabio, the favored candidate of the All Progressives Congress, competed against former Governor Abdulazeez Yari of Zamfara State in the race.
Following a brief recess, Sani Tambuwal, the Clerk of the National Assembly, announced Akpabio as the Senate President, having secured 63 votes, while his opponent received 46 votes.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Governor Obaseki commends Akpabio on his emergence as the new Senate President and expresses confidence in his abilities. He acknowledges Akpabio’s extensive experience and asserts that the 10th Senate is in capable hands.
