The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has made a significant decision by immediately terminating the services of board members and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) within the state government agencies.
In a statement issued by Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, the Permanent Secretary of Administration and Finance in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, it was revealed that the Governor has relieved Managing Directors, General Managers, Executive Secretaries, Chairmen, and other members of the Board of Agencies/Parastatals from their appointments. However, this directive does not apply to Commissioners, and career Executive Secretaries, Managing Directors, and General Managers are also exempted.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that the affected officials must hand over any government property in their possession to the most senior officers within their respective organizations.
While the specific reason behind the Governor’s decision remains undisclosed in the statement, it is worth noting that many Governors across Nigeria are implementing reforms within their states, aimed at eliminating incompetence within their governments. These state-level reforms signify a potential positive direction for Nigeria’s progress.
