Bryson, who was born in Greenville, built a successful music career spanning several decades and became one of the most recognizable voices in R&B and adult contemporary music.

He gained international acclaim through his Disney collaborations, including Beauty and the Beast with Celine Dion and A Whole New World with Regina Belle from Aladdin.

The singer is also known for a catalogue of popular songs such as If Ever You’re in My Arms Again, Can You Stop the Rain and Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.

Throughout his career, Bryson maintained strong ties to Atlanta’s music community and regularly performed before audiences across the city, including appearances at the renowned Fox Theatre.

Details regarding the severity of the stroke or his current condition have not been made public.

Meanwhile, the singer’s family has appealed for understanding and privacy as he focuses on recovery.

“At this time, the family requests privacy as they navigate this deeply personal moment together,” the representative said.

“The thoughts, prayers and love of friends and fans are welcomed and deeply appreciated.”
