Fear spread through Ikire town in Osun State on Sunday after the convoy of Fuji music star Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma came under attack by suspected gunmen.
The incident reportedly took place in the afternoon as unidentified assailants targeted the convoy, pelting the vehicles with stones and allegedly opening fire. Among the vehicles hit were a black Hummer Jeep and a white Hilux, both said to have suffered visible damage.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, though it remains unclear if anyone in the musician’s team sustained injuries.
A video making the rounds online shows the aftermath of the incident, capturing frightened voices in the background. One voice, speaking in Pidgin, says, “Kasala don burst for Ikire. They don attack us. They carry gun shoot us but God dey,” reflecting the panic and confusion at the time.
Pasuma was believed to be in Osun State for a scheduled event, but the details of his visit have yet to be confirmed. Local residents expressed shock over the violence, which caused temporary disruption and alarm in the area.
Efforts to reach the artist or his management for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of reporting.
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command has not issued an official statement or confirmed any arrests related to the incident.
