A couple identified as Mba Ifeoma Gloria and Eremezie Tochukwu Martin, have been
murdered in cold blood by unidentified gunmen at Arondizuogu in the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo state.
Their wedding had been scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
According to the residents of the community, the duo had been in a tricycle when they were attacked by the gunmen who shot at all three passengers in the tricycle.
The incident reportedly occurred on the eve of Wednesday, 11 January.
Residents of the community had additionally said that the gunmen specialized in
stealing flashy cars and killing their owners.
Imo and other South-East states have witnessed a high rise of regular attacks on
security agencies and facilities, government institutions, and high-profile individuals
recently.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) whose leader Nnamdi Kanu, is still in detention, has been linked to the deadly attacks in the region. But the group has continuously denied its involvement in the inhumane attacks.
