UK health authorities reported that sensitive data from a ransomware attack, which caused major disruptions at London hospitals, was published online on Friday.
The cyberattack on service supplier Synnovis earlier this month significantly impacted blood transfusions, with hundreds of appointments and operations still being canceled.
The attack affected major UK hospitals, including King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ in central London.
NHS England reported that a cybercriminal group published stolen data last night, claiming it belonged to Synnovis.
According to the BBC, the Russian group Qilin shared nearly 400 gigabytes of data, including patient names, dates of birth, NHS numbers, and blood test descriptions, on their darknet site and Telegram channel.
Synnovis, which conducts pathology tests on blood samples primarily in southeast London, was attacked on June 3.
NHS England is working with Synnovis, the National Cyber Security Centre, and other partners to quickly determine the content of the published files, acknowledging public concern over the breach.
