Midfielder Woodensky Pierre’s visa has been approved, a huge boost for Haiti’s World Cup preparations, with the chance of joining up with the rest of the squad.

Pierre is the only player in the Haitian World Cup party currently residing in his native country, and has had to wait on travelling for approval as the rest of the team has been gathering in Florida in preparation.

He should be flying over to Florida on Tuesday. “This is a big joy for him,” Haitian Football Federation spokesperson, Thecieux Jeanty, confirmed.

Haiti Receives Major Boost as Woodensky Pierre Secures Visa for World Cup

Pierre was training in Port-au-Prince whilst waiting for the decision, being banned from using the stadium in his native capital city due to security concerns; Haiti has even played some of its “home” World Cup qualifiers recently in Curacao due to instability.

The Cit Soleil-based midfielder, along with the rest of the squad, now begins warm-up matches against New Zealand and Peru before their kick-off.

The last time Haiti qualified for a World Cup was over 50 years ago; they will be making their second appearance at the top event and begin their campaign on June 13 when they play Scotland before a further two matches against the five-time champions, Brazil, and Morocco in Group A.

Pierre is completing the Haiti squad and is hopefully on his way to make history in the 2026 World Cup.
