Halima Amirah Junaid, granddaughter of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, is set to marry Walid Shehu Mu’azu in a ceremony scheduled for Kaduna State.
Preparations for the wedding began this week in Abuja, with former First Lady Aisha Buhari hosting a women’s gathering ahead of the main celebration.
Halima is the daughter of the late Zulaihat Junaid, President Buhari’s first child, who tragically passed away during childbirth. Zulaihat was married to Junaid Abdullahi and was the daughter of the late Safinatu, Buhari’s first wife, who also died.
Speaking with TheCable Lifestyle, wedding coordinator Abubakar Adamu highlighted the bride’s family background. He explained that after Zulaihat’s death, former First Lady Aisha Buhari stepped in to care for the president’s grandchildren.
Adamu also clarified misconceptions linking Halima to the child of Buhari’s daughter married to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami.
“The mother of the bride is late. She was with her husband when she died. It was her sister who was married to Malami. Even the one that they gave birth to is still alive now. Because she died during childbirth,” he said.
He added, “The boy is alive. All the children are with Aisha who is doing all that woman thing in Abuja. But the wedding proper would happen on the 30th. The culture is that it is the father who has to give his daughter out.”
The official wedding of Halima Amirah Junaid and Walid Shehu Mu’azu is scheduled for August 30 in Kaduna, with the reception to follow at the prestigious Kaduna Polo Club.
