The Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa has refuted a comment, attributed to her by the media, in regards to her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, status.
In a statement made by Suleiman Haruna the Deputy Director, Press at the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, he had claimed that Musawa had denied publishing the statement, reiterating that the comment had not been made by her and, as such, had detached herself from it.
In Haruna’s words:
“The attention of Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, the current Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, has been drawn to a circulating piece. This piece in question is falsely associated with her in regards to the current NYSC discussion. The Honorable Minister wishes to clarify that she has not made any official statement in relation the highlighted matter and kindly asks the general public to be wary and guarded of unverified information.”
Hannatu Musawa herself had said: “For clarity’s sake, I wish to inform everyone that I have not issued any statement on the current issue in question.”
This is coming after news circulated online on various social media platforms that Minister Musawa had purportedly issued a statement stating that she had not broken any law by being appointed for a ministerial position and undergoing the mandatory national youth service at the same time period.
