Well known Nigerian singer, Harrison Tare Okiri, aka Harrysong, has been named the Executive Assistant on Entertainment to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Harrysong who shared the news appointment on his Instagram on Wednesday, expressed gratitude to the governor promising to use the position effectively.
The letter also revealed that Harrysong legally assumed the role on December 22, 2023.
Certain upcoming events were announced in the letter too, including the ‘Kingmaker’ on March 30th and the Sherrified and Ukodo International Festival 2024.
Harrysong had meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for entrusting him with the office.
He then went on to assure the Governor and indigenes of the state that he would make good use of his office.
Harrysong is not the first musician to receive political appointments in Nigeria.
Nigerian artists like Iyanya, Richard Mofe Damijo, Onyeka Onwenu, Mercy Johnson, Dayo Adeneye and so much more are some of the Nigerian celebrities who have exited the glamour of the showbiz world to work in different capacities in government.
Harrysong is both a singer and a songwriter who rose to fame after his tribute song to Nelson Mandela, which won the “Most Downloaded Callertune Award” at The Headies Award Ceremony in 2013.
