Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Savannah State University baseball player Johan Sandoval due to violations of his student F-1 visa status.
The Dominican Republic product, who has been living in the U.S since 2021 to play baseball and attend school, has since been arrested in Clifton Park, N.Y.
On Friday, Sandavol was just announced as the MVP of the 2026 HBCU Baseball All-Star Game.
Sandavol’s family is raising money via GoFundMe as they try to find ways to assist their son.
“We are trying to gather support as we work to assist Johan through his immigration processes,” the page reads. “He will have the support of Savannah State University, our family, his immigration team, and attorneys to ensure he is allowed to continue his studies and pursue his dream.”
