Real Madrid is remodeling its medical personnel to cope with an injury-ravaged season that included errors in treatment, most notably when scanning France star Kylian Mbappe for an injury.
The medical team’s former head, Felipe Segura, who was moved down from his role earlier in January, will leave, while Manolo Arroyo, also a medical staff member, has resigned. The entire reshuffling has been spearheaded by Niko Mihic, who came back in January to assume control of the department.
Real Madrid’s club was also criticized after Mbappe was found to have his right knee erroneously scanned when treating a left knee injury, though the player dismissed claims that the injury was misdiagnosed by medical staff members at his loaned club.

In addition to Mihic, there will likely be another addition from the medical sector in the form of Alexandre Creuze, the head of Monaco medical services. The changes take place as Jose Mourinho returns as Real Madrid manager and will bolster the club’s physical preparation staff by appointing a former confidante of his, Antonio Dias.
The physical trainer Antonio Pintus is reportedly likely to remain in position at Real Madrid after a year with many players on the sidelines – all players except Brahim Diaz, Vinicius Junior, and Fran Garcia have experienced spells of being sidelined this season.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez admitted that the team has not met his requirements, in the form of players suffering injuries all over the body.
