The Headies award organizers on Sunday, 4th September 2022, unveiled popular US actor, Anthony Anderson, and the award-winning Nigerian actress, Osas Ighodaro as the hosts of this year’s award ceremony.
Andersen is famous for his ABS-CBN sit-com: Blackish where he played the role of Mr. Johnson alongside Tracy Ellis Ross who played the role of his wife. Ighodaro will be on stage alongside him as a co-host.
The 15th Headies Award had held on Sunday night at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, Atlanta, US. This is the first time the award show is being held outside the country since its inception. Another twist to this year’s award ceremony is the organizers adding a new category: The International Artist of the Year to this year’s award.
This category is for non-African artists or groups with the most outstanding achievements and impacts on Afrobeats and the nominees are Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Beiber, and Nas.

- Best Collaboration: Wizkid ft Tems – “ESSENCE”
- Songwriter Of The Year: Adekunle Gold – “SINNER”
- Afrobeats Single of The Year: Fireboy DML – “PERU”
- Song Of The Year: Wizkid ft. Tems – “ESSENCE”
- Headies Viewer’s Choice: Ayra Starr – “BLOODY SAMARITAN”
