The organisers of The Headies have unveiled an unexpected twist, announcing two separate editions of the award show in 2025.
The timetable for the two ceremonies was unveiled by Ayo Animashuan, founder of The Headies, at an event on Victoria Island in Lagos on Tuesday evening.
According to him, the 17th edition of The Headies will be held on April 5, with an emphasis on music of 2024.
He also announced that the nominees for the 17th edition will be released on February 12.
The 18th edition of The Headies is set to take place in December, though the exact date has not been revealed.
The award organisers announced in February 2024 that the 17th award event would return to Nigeria after being held in the United States in 2022 and 2023.
The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, hosted the 16th Headies. The award ceremony was also held at the same location two years prior.
The Headies is a famous music awards event founded in 2006 to honour great achievements in the Nigerian music business.
