The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) and the Assembly of Healthcare Professionals have given the Federal Government 15 days to fix some important worker benefits or face a nationwide strike.
The unions mentioned several unresolved problems, such as changes to the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS), setting up a consultant position for pharmacists, and extending the retirement age for health workers.

JOHESU’s leader, Kabiru Minjibir, and secretary, Martin Egbanubi, stressed the need for quick action in a letter to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Pate.
The strike, which was paused after President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in June 2023, could start again on October 25, 2024, if the government doesn’t meet their demands.
The Federal Government has 15 days to solve these important issues and avoid a nationwide strike that could affect Nigeria’s healthcare system.
