High Cost of Cement Prompts Minister of Works To Summon Manufacturers

David Umahi, the Minister of Works in Nigeria has announced that well-known cement manufacturers have been called to a meeting, to deliberate over the soaring price of cement.

The Minister had expressed worry that the cost of the building product was rising at an astonishing rate despite huge patronage by road and housing contractors to cement manufacturers.

The Minister’s Special Adviser (Media), Orji Uchenna Orji, had in a statement made in Abuja on Saturday, explained that the meeting would occur on Monday, February 19, 2024, at the Ministry’s Conference Hall, in Mabushi, Abuja.

High Cost of Cement Prompts Minister of Works To Summon Manufacturers

The released statement read partly:
“The Minister of Works, David Umahi, had summoned an urgent meeting of all cement manufacturers in Nigeria.”

Those invited included Dangote Plc, BUA Plc, Larfarge, and others.

The aim/agenda of the meeting is to look into the situation and other similar issues, with a view to finding a common front.
