A criminal group claimed to be responsible for the grisly murder of an Assistant Superintendent of Police on East Street in Ndiegoro, Aba, Abia State, has threatened to fire inhabitants of the area.
The ASP, locally known as “Agbalagba” and from Ebonyi State, was gruesomely murdered with his head severed near East Street on Tuesday morning (about 5 a.m.), while the gang made off with his weapons and uniform.
During an investigation, an unbiased police source linked the ASP’s death to a notorious criminal organization whose leader was killed in a gun battle on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
According to reports, on April 23, the gang’s leader, well known in the area as JT, met his demise in a gun duel with police after being spotted carrying out illicit activities.
According to the source, when JT and his crew saw the police officers, they opened fire and tried to leave, but the cops pursued them up to the Orji Uzor-Kalu bridge, which connects Ngwa Road, Pepples Road, and Akpu Road.
It was reported that JP rushed into the Aba River to try to escape through the Ovom/Azumini section of the river after noticing the police’s desire to arrest him, but he was gunned down directly inside the river.
Residents in the region had cheered JT’s death, feeling that one of their greatest worries and rivals had died, but the occurrence on Tuesday at East Street, where the gang killed the police superintendent, sent shivers down their spines.
According to a local who requested anonymity, the event has caused alarm among inhabitants of East Street, Ngwa Road, Akpu Road, Ndoki Street, Etche Road, and Ulasi Road, all of which are part of the Ndiegoro axis, because the criminals have threatened to target police and civilians.
