Just barely 24 hours after some hoodlums attacked the High Court in Orlu, and burnt sensitive documents, some unknown men have burnt a section of the Magistrate court in Imo state.

The hoodlums were said to have stormed the court with explosives, they also burnt sensitive documents and files.

Micheal Abattam, the Police spokesperson of the state, confirmed the incident and revealed that they’ve put off the fire already, and have begun investigations to apprehend those carrying out such acts.

This new habit of burning sensitive documents in courts by Hoodlums is a call on the judicial system in Nigeria to embrace technology. CCTV cameras should be planted in strategic places in Court, all files should be transferred into the computer system and saved there, and external hard drives should be provided. If law firms are already embracing this technology, I don’t see any reason why courts can’t embrace such.
