The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC over the insufficient spread of telecommunication network services in the country.
According to The House, questions are being asked on how the NCC utilized the Universal Service Provision Fund (an allocation of 2.5 percent of the annual turnover of the mobile telecommunication network operators) as the annual license renewal fee.
At the plenary on Thursday, April 6, the House had specifically resolved to set up an ad hoc committee to probe the failure and inability of the NCC to encourage widespread availability and usage of mobile telecommunication network services throughout the country.
The panel is set o report back within four weeks for further legislative action.
