The House of Representatives in Nigeria have dismissed a motion sponsored by Hon. Taiwo Oluga, seeking to persuade the United Kingdom to refrain from banning Nigerian student emigrants from relocating with their families.
According to Taiwao Oluga, the APC representative for Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan Federal Constituency had while moving the motion, remarked that the Federal Republic of Nigeria had a mutually beneficial extended history with the U.K.
She additionally highlighted that the educational system in Nigeria, among several other things were fashioned after that of the United Kingdom leading several Nigerians to look for employment and educational opportunities in the United Kingdom.
However, when put to a voice vote by Hon. Femi Gbahabiamila, the Speaker of the House, who presided over the plenary session, majority of lawmakers had voted ‘nay.’
