House of Reps summons Lai Mohammed over Twitter ban

In line with the ban imposed on access to Twitter in Nigeria on 5th June 2021, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed has been invited and expected to appear before a joint committee on justice, commerce and information. 

This development was announced by the speaker of the House, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila who made it known that the commitee is being set up to carry out proper investigation on the entire twitter ban suspension.

The speaker noted that just like every other social media network, Twitter is a very vital tool for communication and commerce, and help youths especially in the various aspects of nation-building. 

Nigeria has reportedly lost about N7.5 billion since the twitter ban.

Femi Gbajabiamila called for speed and sound judgment while handling the matter and  further iterated that the report from the committee would help the House take appropriate actions thereafter 

The joint committee is to carry out proper investigation and give a comprehensive report to the House.
