Popular Nigerian singer D’banj has opened up about the split of the legendary Mo’Hits Records, revealing that it was his former partner, ace producer and music executive Don Jazzy, who initiated their separation.
Don Jazzy had announced the dissolution of Mo’Hits in 2012, citing disagreements with D’banj as the reason. Speaking on the Mic On podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, D’banj clarified that the decision was entirely Jazzy’s.

“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent. And that’s why we have no issue,” he said.
He added that Don Jazzy had generously given him full ownership of his catalogue along with a few unreleased tracks. “Jazzy gave me 100 per cent of my catalogue and maybe 10 other songs I have not released… It was a journey for me, even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement and I’m glad that even after, God still did it for us with ‘Oliver Twist’, which was the last record we released together,” D’banj remarked.
While he admitted he missed collaborating with Don Jazzy, D’banj said he holds no regrets about the split, describing it as something that was destined to happen.
