Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has given fans a peek into how her collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta for the single “On The Low” came about.
Savage shared that the partnership started informally when she reached out to Skepta on social media, and she was amazed at how fast it all progressed.
She recalled dropping by Skepta’s studio to play him the track, and his reaction was immediate and positive.
“So, ladies, I want to say that it does work sometimes when you slide into that dm. But I did slide into the dm and I was like, hey, big smoke. I didn’t really tell him up front what I wanted. Kind of was just like, I’m in London. What you doing? He’s like, yo, I’m in the studio. I’m like, oh, cool. So I went over and played him the record, and he loved it. I particularly loved shooting the visuals for this. So if you haven’t seen it, make sure you check it out,” Tiwa said.
Since its release on July 30, 2025, “On The Low” has received strong support from listeners in both Nigeria and the UK. The single is part of her upcoming album, This One Is Personal, which is scheduled to drop on August 29, 2025.
