Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has pushed back against long-held public assumptions about his personal life, insisting that he is not a womaniser but someone who loves deeply and sincerely.

The award-winning singer shared his thoughts during an interview with Voice of Nigeria, which surfaced online on Wednesday, where he spoke candidly about fame, family, and the realities of living under constant public scrutiny.

“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womaniser. I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard,” 2Baba said.

Reflecting on fatherhood, the music star admitted that one of his biggest challenges has been managing the demands of his career alongside raising his children. While grateful for the gift of parenthood, he acknowledged that his busy schedule has often kept him away from them.

“I have eight kids now. I feel blessed and happy, but the sadness comes from the fact that I haven’t gotten to spend the type of time I should have spent with them collectively. It does something to me sometimes,” he explained.

Despite the regrets, he described his children as a major source of inspiration and fulfilment.

“They’re amazing, brilliant people. I just wish I was there more. It touches me from all corners,” he added.

2Baba also addressed criticisms targeted at his wife, Natasha, particularly claims suggesting she is overly controlling or influential in his decisions. According to him, such portrayals are inaccurate and unfair.

“Everybody has a say in everybody’s business now. Sometimes people say very nasty things.

“You grow thick skin, but sometimes it gets to you. Reality is reality, she’s a brilliant woman, a strong woman,” he said.

Shedding light on his personality, the singer revealed that he is naturally reserved and introverted, contrary to the bold image many associate with him. He explained that his career often forces him to step outside his comfort zone.

“My profession doesn’t permit me to be shy, but I’m actually a very shy person.

“Sometimes I just want to be alone and chill. Other times I want to hang out. I like nature; I have my moments,” he concluded.
