Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has shared some of the difficulties she faced when she first ventured into Nollywood, revealing that one of her toughest early challenges came in the form of bizarre and inappropriate scripts.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the actress explained that her most alarming experience involved being offered a role that required her to engage in an indecent act with a dog—an offer she immediately turned down.

According to her, “Despite being a newcomer, I was given a script to sleep with a dog. I rejected it because I can’t start off my career like that. Imagine my first ever movie, I am sleeping with a dog. It doesn’t make sense. It is going to be a tag because whatever you start with is what people would associate you with. I didn’t want to be renowned as someone who sleeps with dogs in movies.”
She noted that while she refused the role, others were eager to take it. “So, I rejected that script. But immediately I threw it down, so many girls grabbed it. I’m not sure any of them are in the limelight today,” she added.
Blessing explained that leaving that production turned out to be a turning point. Shortly after walking away, she crossed paths with veteran filmmaker Emeka Duru, who expressed interest in helping her grow in the industry.
She revealed that Duru ultimately paved the way for her debut appearance in the film Through The Fire, produced by filmmaker Imem Isong—marking the beginning of her rise in Nollywood.
