Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has spoken about the shifting attitude toward single motherhood, noting that many men now actively seek single mothers for serious and committed relationships rather than casual affairs.
According to the actress, the negative labels once attached to single mothers are gradually disappearing, as society now recognizes their strength, maturity, and emotional depth.
She pointed out that many single mothers and their children are excelling in different areas, proving that family structure does not limit success.
Iyabo Ojo explained that men are increasingly drawn to single mothers because of their life experience and clarity about relationships, adding that many of them are upfront about wanting marriage instead of secret or side relationships.
She also encouraged women not to lose confidence after a breakup, stressing that rejection by one partner does not define a woman’s value or future.
Reaffirming her pride in representing single mothers, the actress said, “Gone are the days that being a single mother was a stigma. Single mothers’ children are doing great things in life. Men are chasing single mothers. They are even begging us that they don’t want us to be a side chick. They want us to marry them because we have experience. If a man leaves you, another man will accept you. I am The President General of the Single Mothers Association.”
