Police officials in Lagos State, Nigeria have arrested well-known Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince whose real name is Panshak Henry Zamani.
The Lagos command spokesman Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this update via Twitter, where he tweeted about the arrested on his verified Twitter page, this Friday morning. Hundeyin had tweeted that the musician would be arraigned today for allegedly assaulting and abducting a police officer.
Mr. Hundeyin’s tweet, which has been garnering engagements since the news broke out had also read those police had reported that Ice Prince had allegedly kidnapped, and assaulted a police officer who had stopped the Rapper for driving without his license plates. Also, the Rapper had threatened to throw the police officer inside a river.
The tweet read: ”At 3 am today, @Iceprincezamani was stopped for driving without license plates. He had agreed to be taken to the station; however, he had abducted the police officer with his car, assaulted the officer, and threatened to throw the official inside a river. The musician has since been arrested and he will be arraigned in the law court today”
There has been no comment from the musician as yet.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on 29 August 2022, condemned the latest trend of assaulting police officers and men in uniform. He had reported that the officers carry out official ad necessary lawful duties when they are usually attacked in different locations across the country.
He had gone on to warn the general public against attacks on the police officers and men in uniform stationed in their various locations reiterating that those attacks would no longer be condoned.
