According to his manpower development strategy of putting “round pegs in round holes,” Inspector-General of Police Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the posting or redeployment of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, (AIG’s), and Commissioners of Police, (CPs), to Departments, Commands, and Formations.
This information was released on Tuesday in a statement by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer.
According to him, DIG Danmallam Mohammed had been transferred to the Department of Finance and Administration, and the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police listed below had been posted to assume the responsibilities of the Deputy Inspectors-General of Police in charge of the Departments of the Force listed below.
To DIG Department of Operations – AIG Adeleke A. Bode; to DIG Department of Research and Planning – AIG Aji A. Janga; to DIG Department of Training and Development – AIG Hafiz M. Inuwa, mni.
While AIG Shuaya’u Lafia Abdulyari takes over as the AIG in command of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Force Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Habu Sani Ahmadu has been posted as the Force Secretary.
Similarly to that, the names of the Senior Police Officers listed below have been changed to reflect that they have been appointed to assume the responsibilities of the Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zonal Police Commands:
CP Matthew Akinyosola of the AIG Police Mobile Force, CP Jonathan Towuru of AIG Zone 6 Calabar, CP Sylvester A. Alabi of AIG Zone 2 Lagos, CP Akande Sikiru Kayode of AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, and CP Abimbola Adebola Shokoya of AIG Zone 17 Akure.
The police chief also reportedly ordered the provisional posting of the following commissioners of police to the commands listed below, subject to the approval of the Police Service Commission, following the IGP’s mandate and strategies to strengthen the operational structures of state commands:
CP Adebola A. Hamzat represents CP Adamawa State. CP Emeka Frank Mba represents CP Ogun State. CP Suleiman A. Yusuf represents CP Taraba State. CP Idowu Owohunwa represents CP Lagos State. CP Faleye E.S. Olaleye represents CP Ebonyi State.
According to the spokesman, the IGP has instructed the newly posted officers to get started right away to make sure the administration’s purpose, vision, and policy declarations are properly followed in the areas of crime fighting, public cooperation, and safety.
According to reports, he also appealed for the public’s support and cooperation so that the newly assigned top officers may fulfill their mandate as effectively as possible.
The posting is reportedly effective immediately.
