To carry out his policing mission, Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has given his approval for Olukayode Egbetokun to be appointed the new Assistant Inspector General for Zone 7 in Abuja.
On October 25, Egbetokun took over as the new AIG for Zone 7, Abuja, replacing AIG Aliyu Muhammad, who had recently legally retired from service.
On March 3, 1990, the new AIG enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in course 16.
Egbetokun earned his B.Sc. (Ed.) in Mathematics from the University of Lagos. He also has an MBA from Lagos State University, a master’s degree in engineering analysis from the same institution, a postgraduate diploma in petroleum economics from Delta State University, and a master of science in engineering analysis.
He has held sensitive positions within the Force and served in several commands, including those of Commandant Rapid Response Squad, Lagos, 2005–2007, Squadron Commander 5 PMF Benin, Benin City, OC anti-fraud FCT Command, CSP “A” Lagos State Command, Area Commander Oshogbo, Osun State, and Area Commander Gusau Zamfara State. He has also served as Commandant Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos, and Deputy Commandant, of Police College
He was Falomo Lagos’ Commissioner of Police (Administration) Medical till his current elevation and appointment. Additionally, he has taken numerous courses both domestically and abroad.
Egbetokun pledged to collaborate amicably with the zone’s police commissioners and other pertinent stakeholders to increase service delivery.
He vowed to fully uphold the ideals of modern policing, pointing out that all residents should have access to high-quality enforcement while emphasizing rebuilding and boosting public confidence.
