Manchester City is on the lookout to re-sign Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. A transfer fee will be agreed upon for the player who left last summer as a free agent. This comes after news that the Catalan club is trying to sell some of its players to help them get out of troubled financial situations.
According to top football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City has already contacted Gundogan’s representatives over a potential return. City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly open to the possibility of resigning the midfielder, who played such a vital role in their recent successes.
On his X account Monday, Romano said, “Manchester City have contacted Ilkay Gündogan’s camp over a potential return for the German midfielder. City and Pep open to considering Gundo comeback. Barça want Gündogan to leave … and he also received approaches from Qatar, Saudi, and more clubs.”
It comes amid financial difficulties for Barcelona, which may see them offload key players. Gundogan was a wildly successful player under Guardiola at City, with whom he won several Premier League titles and more; he may make a high-profile return to Etihad Stadium.
