INEC will hold two NASS elections in addition to state elections.

TWO National Assembly (NASS) elections halted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on February 25 will happen alongside the March 18 gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

According to INEC, the NASS elections in Edo and Enugu states are not additional polls, as several media outlets have stated.

Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairperson of, the Information and Voter Education Committee, explained in an Abuja statement on Friday, March 17.

He stated that the Commission has not scheduled the conduct of supplemental elections deriving from the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25th.

For clarity, the commission will publish the date of the additional polls shortly after the gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

First is the Enugu East Senatorial District election, which was postponed to allow the Labour Party to conduct a fresh primary election to replace its deceased candidate following the stipulations of Section 34(1) of the Electoral Act.
