Iran’s foreign ministry took swift action to express its outrage over the “desecration of the Koran in Copenhagen” by summoning the Danish ambassador, according to a tweet from the ministry on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday when an individual set fire to a book believed to be the Koran on a square situated across from the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen.
In response to this act, a senior foreign ministry official from Iran emphasized the seriousness of book burning in Europe, likening it to the dark ages of ignorance. Iranian media reported the official’s statement, which warned that remaining silent in the face of such a heinous cultural crime could lead to further violence and promotion of terrorism.
