Popular Lagos car dealer, Ikechukwu Ogbonna, known in the public space as IVD, has reportedly been arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while trying to depart Nigeria.

Sources indicate that the arrest took place on Friday, allegedly carried out by operatives from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. IVD was said to be on his way to Qatar in preparation for his wedding to controversial media personality and self-proclaimed relationship expert, Blessing CEO.

In response to the arrest, blogger Stella Dimoko-Korkus took to Instagram on Saturday, revealing that IVD’s attempt to leave the country violated existing legal conditions tied to his ongoing trial.

She wrote: “Domestic violence case against him regarding his late wife is still in court. IVD is not supposed to leave Nigeria until the case is over.”

IVD is currently facing trial over the tragic death of his wife, Bimbo Ogbonna, who died in October 2022 from injuries sustained in a domestic fire incident at their home.

The Lagos State Government later filed a one-count charge of involuntary manslaughter against him under case number LD/21055C/23. The matter remains before the court.
