The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board -JAMB has today, issued a strict warning to accredited CBT centers across the country to refrain from extorting candidates of the JAMB or face dire consequences. JAMB announced in its weekly report that its attention had been called to allegations that a few of the accredited center operators demanded larger than the 700-naira cost slated for services rendered to the candidates.
The examination board stated that it would not tolerate any form of exploitation and would impose a fine of a 100 thousand naira fine on the perpetrators after they would have refunded the cash they collected. The board further advised its candidates to report any CBT center demanding above the board’s mandated fee for any of its services.
The Centres were accredited in February and given the go-ahead to register candidates, applying to study part-time, Sandwich programs, National Open University of Nigeria programs, and long-distance learning programs. JAMB had stated then that the licensing, at the behest of the Computer Based Test -CBT centers, was a step taken to decongest its offices in the country, following past experiences where huge crowds normally gather during the process.
