The Minister of Electricity, Adebayo Adelabu has revealed that the Japanese International Cooperation Agency has invested $500 million to improve power supply in the Lagos-Ogun industrial corridor.
This information was disclosed by Adelabu during a courtesy visit from Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Friday. He pointed out that the investment intends to strengthen transmission infrastructure along the corridor especially in Agbara, Mowe and Sagamu industrial clusters.
It is anticipated that this investment will boost the Nigerian economy and support industrial development in the area. Furthermore, there are underway projects under Presidential Power Initiative and initiatives of Transmission Company of Nigeria aimed at improving electricity supply in Ogun State.
Adelabu urged Governor Abiodun to work with his ministry so as to improve on gas pipeline infrastructure that guarantees increased pressure, quality and quantity of gas supplied to power-generating plants and industries.
The minister pledged to visit Ogun State where he would meet with industrialists as well as find ways in which they can cooperate together. Governor Abiodun commended him for the visible progress made in power supply system nationwide, and encouraged him to sustain the momentum.
