President Bola Tinubu has decided to support every business owner in Jigawa State with N150,000 which would help in boosting small and medium-sized enterprise around Nigeria. The event was opened at Dutse, Jigawa State which aimed at educating people on new technologies such as AI and blockchain, as declared by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Shettima clarified that this financial assistance does not require repayment and is a part of Nigeria’s strategy to position itself as a leading digital technology hub in Africa. He is confident that Nigeria can surpass other countries in terms of economic and technological advancement.
At the same time, the Senate and House of Representatives have approved a change to the law that will increase the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000. President Tinubu sent this proposal to the National Assembly for them to consider and approve.
The President had previously agreed with the leaders of Organized Labour to set a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for Nigerian workers, after a series of discussions between labor leaders and the President. This new minimum wage will be reviewed every three years, rather than the current five years.
