The rumour of the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, joining the fold of the All Progressives Congress has refused to clear in the public and political space.

Infact some political analyst believe the sudden decamping of some Peoples Democratic Party   bigwigs, especially the cross carpeting of Femi Fani Kayode to the All Progressives Congress may be move that is meant to usher in a bigger move.

The APC interim National secretary was quoted to have said on a Channels Television Programme “Politics Today”, that the party (APC) will be delighted to have the country’s immediately past president in their camp.

The Peoples Democratic Party has however tried to douse the tension and curtail the rumour, as the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan told news men that the party is yet to receive any official confirmation or indication of such happening.

But one can’t rule out the rumour in all totality, as it’s no secret that things doesn’t seem to be well in the fold of the Peoples Democratic Party. The party has been riddled with different crisis, leadership tussle and most recently big wigs decamping to the All Progressives Congress. It is even rumoured that some sitting governors under the umbrella party are to decamp in the coming weeks.

The big question however is, what will happen if Jonathan truly decamps to the APC?

Asides from the obvious fact that we are used to recycling leadership in this part of the world, irrespective of performance, some people believe Jonathan could be the joker card for 2023 electioneering process.

Some camp believe Jonathan will give Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu a good run for the APC presidential ticket, which I really don’t see that happening except if Jonathan has the full backing of the North

Well, this is Nigeria, nothing is impossible, the Northern Elders Forum recently was quoted by news men to have said they regretted getting rid of the then president for President Muhammadu Buhari

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) members

The sudden romance between the South West and the South South has shown a kind of pattern that we can’t rule out, truly Jonathan could be the joker.

He can either destabilize the Southern alignment or align the South South with the North. Any which way, we will see how the game unfolds

But one thing is certain, 2022 will be full of surprises, 2023 will come with manifestations of such surprises.
