Jude Bellingham has been celebrating lifting the 2026 World Cup Bronze Boot after revealing he hadn’t known about its existence until it was delivered to his house.
The England midfielder scored 7 goals, just behind Golden Boot winner Kylian Mbappe, with 10, and Lionel Messi, with 8.
Bellingham shared a picture of the award on his JB5 app, writing: “Bronze Boot from the WC… Didn’t know it was a thing but thanks anyway.”
The Madrid star had a great personal tournament but England’s run ended in failure after a semi-final defeat to Argentina.
The original award, then called the ‘Bronze Shoe’, was introduced at the 1982 World Cup, with Zico of Brazil being the first player to win it, after netting four times.
After being only intermittently awarded in subsequent tournaments, the trophy was renamed the Bronze Boot in 2010.
The award is the fifth to be given under its new name, after Wesley Sneijder, Neymar, Romelu Lukaku and Olivier Giroud.
Having scored seven goals, he became the leading scorer ever to finish third in the World Cup scoring charts – though the increased number of goals in the 2026 tournament meant he still finished in third place.
