Tanzanian-Nigerian singer, Juma Jux, has opened up about the emotional journey of guiding his wife, Priscilla Ojo, towards embracing Islam before they tied the knot.
In a recent interview with Afrikmedia, the singer reflected on the challenges he faced in supporting Priscilla—daughter of Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo—through a significant religious transformation.
Jux credited the success of her conversion to the guidance he received from Islamic scholars and mentors, who encouraged him to approach the situation with patience and empathy.
“It was a little bit difficult convincing her,” he shared. “But I was receiving lessons from religious leaders and people who are keen about Islam. So they told me that there was a way that I could convince my wife to join the religion.”
He explained that he didn’t force or pressure Priscilla. Instead, he followed advice to gently introduce her to the faith, allowing her to learn and understand on her own terms.
“They said I should go with her slowly, teach her this and that, tell her this and that, although it took time but she later understood,” he said.
Jux went on to express how grateful he feels to have married someone who shares both his vision for the future and his values.
“I knew everything when it came to my wedding,” he said. “I had dreamt about it and I was so lucky to find someone who also wanted the same thing as me.”
The singer’s account has resonated with many fans across Nigeria and Tanzania, who have praised his respectful and thoughtful approach to navigating religious differences within a relationship.
