Jurgen Klopp has secured his first appointment since his departure from Liverpool, on a long-term contract as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer. The German manager ended an illustrious nine-year tenure at Anfield earlier this year and will be responsible for the strategic development of Red Bull’s international network of soccer clubs. That will include RB Leipzig, New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Salzburg, and Red Bull Bragantino.
The five-year deal for Klopp, who will step aside from active coaching for now, will entail advising the clubs on playing philosophy, transfer strategy, and coaching development. He is not going to interfere in daily matters, but he will start early in 2024.
“I still love football and working, and Red Bull gives me now the perfect platform for that,” Klopp wrote on Instagram.
He went on to win eight major honors with Liverpool, including the Premier League title that finally ended the club’s 30-year wait for a league championship. Although this might be described as some time out from management, it is believed that Klopp has negotiated an exit clause for the German national team, meaning he is not far from returning to the dugout.
