The NIMC state Coordinator, Alhaji Aminu Jakada, had made this revelation while speaking to newsmen after a procession to mark the International Identity Day 2024 in Dutse.

He remarked that the purpose of the event was to explain to the public, the importance of the National identity card.

The coordinator, represented by the zonal officer, Kazaure, Comrade Muhammad Yusuf, had stated that the United Nations set aside 16 September of every year as the International Identity Day.

He had said, “statistically only 1.5 million people are registered in Jigawa State, while over 4.5 million people are yet to register.”

He thereafter, advised people in the state to register with the Commission through its offices spread out across the state.

Jakada also urged religious, traditional leaders and other relevant stakeholders to excite people on the importance of possessing the National Identity Card.
