The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has dismissed Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the latest Soun of Ogbomoso.
The court had directed the Oyo State Government to coordinate a new selection process for the next Soun.
This order was followed by a suit filed by one of the contestants, Kabir Laoye.
Laoye had asserted in his suit that Olaoye was not fit to be appointed as Soun and that his appointment was, therefore, unlawful.
The court consented with Laoye’s argument and ruled that Olaoye’s appointment was null and void.
The court had also directed the government to not appoint anyone to the position until after its final decision.
Recall that the Oyo State Government had declared Olaoye as the new Soun on September 8, and subsequently ordained him on the same day.
