From January to December, the Kano State Hisbah Board said it destroyed 25 trucks of beer and caught 2,260 alleged thieves.
Dr. Harun Sani-Ibn, the board’s Commander-General, stated this to reporters yesterday at the board’s offices in Kano.
He stated that the trucks held thousands of bottles of various beers and that more bottles would be consumed before January.
According to Ibn-Sina, approximately 822 cases were handled, with others still pending in various legal courts due to their complexity.
He further stated that 15 couples were married in Hisbah, and 22 people converted to Islam as a result of Da’awah in various sections of the state.
According to Ibn-Sina, the State Government hired 5,700 Hisbah Marshalls and 3,100 Hisbah Corps, as well as rebuilt Hisbah headquarters and local government offices.
According to the Commander-General, a new Shari’a court has been established at the board headquarters, and Kano’s Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has accepted the elevation of Hisbah Mosque to a Juma’at Mosque.
He asked parents to be more watchful and report any suspicious person to the appropriate authorities, as the agency would not rest in its efforts to rid the state of all vices.
