American hip-hop icon, Kanye West, has unveiled a provocative list of his 12 greatest rappers of all time.
In his list, titled “12 Rap Kings,” West included himself, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, 2Pac, 50 Cent, Eminem, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Nas, and Rakim as the greatest rappers in history.
Posting the list on his X handle on Friday, he wrote, “There are 12 rap kings
“[Lil] Wayne
Me
Jay [Jay-Z]
Drake
Biggie [Smalls]
[2] PAC
50 [Cent]
EM [Eminem]
LL [Cool J]
Run DMC
Nas
Rakim.”
The list stirred controversy, with many criticizing Kanye West for leaving out Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and other hip-hop legends.
Kanye West recently confessed that while he acknowledges Kendrick Lamar as “very good,” he doesn’t enjoy his music.
Last year, Kanye West criticised J.Cole for apologising to Kendrick Lamar after Lamar dissed him and Drake on a track, prompting J.Cole’s response.
West maintained that J.Cole made a mistake by apologising to Kendrick Lamar.
