Reports got out earlier this week, that Karim Benzema is to depart from Real Madrid, such reports were debunked by Carlos Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s coach and also by Benzema himself.
However, it seems the reports turned out to be true, as Real Madrid released a statement on Sunday, informing everyone that Benzema and the club has reached an agreement, and both parties have decided to call it quits.
They further appreciated Benzema for his contribution to the success of the club, and described him as one of their greatest legends.
“Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club,” said Los Blancos in a statement.
“Madrid want to show their gratitude and all their love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”
Benzema joined Real Madrid, from Ligue 1 side Lyon in 2009, since he joined he has been nothing but amazing for the club, he has won 24 trophies for Madrid, five champions league titles, three la liga and three Copas Del Rey.
He leaves the Club as the second top scorer of a time, with 353 goals to his name, Benzema also won the balon D’or title last year.
