Filmmaker and marketer Kazim Adeoti has commended his wife, Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe, for her honesty and integrity, traits he says strengthened their bond both professionally and personally.
Speaking during an interview on Oyinmomo TV, Adeoti reflected on their first project together in 2011, the film Hajia Jemila, revealing that Aigbe stood out from others in the industry due to her sincerity.
“What I really admire about her is her honesty and straightforwardness; it’s something I truly respect,” he said. “I remember in 2011 when she starred in a film titled Hajia Jemila. After I paid her, I was already used to people complaining that the fee was too small. But in her case, she actually came back to tell me there was leftover money. I was genuinely shocked.”
He added that despite being advised by many to only collaborate with male colleagues, he was drawn to Aigbe’s transparent nature and decided to continue working with her.
“She’s not only a woman but a beautiful one at that, and still, she acted with so much integrity. Honestly, I never collected that remaining money from her, and we continued working together from there,” he said.
Adeoti revealed that their professional collaboration eventually evolved into a romantic relationship and marriage, crediting her character as a major influence in his decision.
