Kirk Franklin, a Grammy Award Winner, gospel singer has frowned at how western Christianity has masculinised ideas such as marriage, giving and sexuality. Commenting on the ‘Funky Friday’ podcast, Franklin said that due to the listed distortions, people act according to the human laws rather than the will of God.
Franklin noted with concern that some of the churches limit the young people from ministries by denying them positions due to marriage. He said that this line of thinking compels people to marry faster because they think that is what God wants for them; yet, they are serving human-made doctrines.
He also pointed out that single women are pressured into commitment and singled out as failures especially within families. Franklin explained that such mentality leads to the degradation of one’s worth and the setting up of daunting expectations.
Franklin made a point to pass the message that single people have a place and are useful in the sight of God. He encouraged the listeners to know that God’s hand is not bound to marriage as this goes against many misleading teachings that circulate within the church.
