Comedian Ekene Clinton Egbuna, widely known as Klintoncod, has publicly criticised Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, the founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, accusing him of misleading his followers with what he termed as fake miracle items.
In a video shared on Instagram, Klintoncod did not hold back as he described the preacher as a “disgrace to Christianity,” stating that in a system where laws function properly, Prophet Fufeyin would either be behind bars or admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
He challenged the legitimacy of the clergyman’s divine calling, comparing his activities to those of a fraudster and blamed such practices for pushing people away from their faith.
Taking a swipe at the congregation, Klintoncod expressed disbelief over their loyalty to the preacher, labelling them as gullible.
“Are we going to continue pretending that this man, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, is not a nuisance to Christianity? Right now as I speak to you he is probably defrauding a lot of stupid people. This guy calls himself a man of God but I don’t think he is. I don’t think there is a difference between him and someone who has ended up in jail for fraud,” he said.
The comedian also criticised the sale of religious items, citing an example involving packaged sand that allegedly brings divine help in building a house.
“This guy goes around selling items, telling people if you buy whatever items he sells God will work miracles for you. Now he went and packaged sand in a nylon, sealed it and put his face on it, now he said if you buy this sand God will help you build a house and a whole bunch of stupid people are attending his church listening to him when he is speaking they will be standing up calling him ‘Papa’,” he added.
Lashing out at Nigerians, Klintoncod suggested misplaced priorities were the root of the country’s issues: “Tinubu or APC is not our problem, Nigerians are actually very stupid. This guy is part of the reason some people stopped going to church. If it was in a sane society this guy would be in jail or in a mental institution.”
