The Independent National Electoral Commission,–INEC, has earmarked Saturday, October 14, 2023, for the mock accreditation of voters in preparation for the November 11 governorship election in the state.
The INEC national chairman Prof Mahmud Yakubu had revealed this at the Kogi INEC Headquarters in Lokoja during the official publication and presentation of the voters register to the 18 participating political parties in the upcoming governorship election.
Yakubu had been represented by a national commissioner, Prof Sani Adam (SAN), and he had said that the exercise would take place in only nine selected polling units, ie three polling units each from the three senatorial districts of the state.
The chairman had also revealed that a similar exercise would simultaneously take place in Bayelsa and Imo states, and the governorship elections for those states will also be held on November 11.
Adam had further called on the residents and voters in the selected polling units to come out in large numbers to participate in the exercise, which he described as a litmus test for the main election.
According to him, the electoral commission is well prepared for the governorship poll. He had also urged the politicians and the electorate to comply with the rules of the game for a peaceful, credible, and successful conduct of the election.
